"I’ve been creating a lot of work recently that takes themes from the past that remain relevant today. I’m an art historian as well as a studio artist, so I enjoy making connections between the past and the present. This piece specifically represents various feelings and personas of society. For me, this piece gives meaning especially since I live in a city where biking is a very popular form of transportation; however in quarantine, we’re encouraged not to bike with others or keep distance. This work shows various characters of society together; but a strong theme of death is conveyed through the skeletal imagery and stark red background."
